Welcome to Luangwa District , one of Zambia’s oldest settlements, is located in the Luangwa Valley, covering 3,471 km². It borders Chongwe District to the west, Mozambique to the east, and Zimbabwe to the south. The district features plains ranging from 300–600m above sea level.

Luangwa is positioning itself as a leading trade, transit, and tourism hub by 2031, highlighted by the spectacular confluence of the Luangwa and Zambezi rivers. The district is also renowned for tasty fish, scenic landscapes, wildlife, and rich cultural heritage, including the Lower Zambezi National Park, making it an attractive destination for investors and tourists alike.

The climate is generally hot, with three distinct seasons:

• Cool dry season
• Hot wet season
• Hot dry season, with temperatures peaking between 30°C and 45°C
